Hanney Flood GroupFollowing the extensive weed clearing efforts from Dandridges Mill to the Lower Mill and beyond, the latest initiative to reduce our chances of suffering extensive flooding from the brook overflowing its banks is the levelling of the banks down-stream from the iron bridge to the first style. To accomplish this the group is obtaining Environment Agency permission to build up the level of the bank on both sides where it is lower than the level measured at the iron bridge itself. Then raised banks will be seeded with grass for both aesthetic effect and to strengthen them against high tides and surges. The work is scheduled for October. |
